Past Participle (Verb 3)

Past participle adalah kata kerja dalam bentuk kata kerja verb tiga, bisa regular atau pun irregular verb.

Past participle biasa digunakan pada:
keterangan: *past p. = past participle (verb 3)

1. Perfect Tenses 

Contoh: 

a.The students have been in the class for an hour. [Para murid telah berada di kelas selama 1 jam.]

                                *past p. 

b.Rita has left       her room.[Rita telah meninggalkan kamarnya]

              *past p.

c.Dodi had locked     the door before he went to bed.[Dodi telah mengunci pintu itu sebelum ia tidur.]

                  *past p.

2. Passive Voice (Kalimat Pasif) 

Penting untuk kamu ketahui: SEMUA PREDIKAT KALIMAT PASIF PASTI MEMILIKI UNSUR => BE + VERB 3

Contoh: 

a. Yana will be accompanied by her father.[Yana akan ditemani oleh ayahnya.]

                        *past p. 

b. The car has not been repaired yet. [Mobil itu belum pernah diperbaiki.]

                                      *past p. 

c. The document is kept     in the cupboard. [Dokumen itu disimpan di dalam lemari.]

                               *past p.

3. Past Participle sebagai Adjective Phrase

Contoh: 

a. Mobil yang diparkir di bawah pohon itu akan dijual. 

    The car which is parked under the tree will be sold. 

                Adjective Clause 

     The car parked    under the tree will be sold. 

                  *past p. 

b. Laki-laki yang terbunuh dalam pertempuran itu tetangga saya. 

    The man who was killed in the battle was my neighbor. 

                   Adjective Clause 

    The man killed    in the battle was my neighbor. 

                   *past p.

4. Past Participle sebagai Adjective 

Contoh: 

a. Kursi-kursi yang dicat itu murah. 

    The chairs which are painted are cheap. 

                      Adjective Clause

    The painted chairs    are cheap.

          *past p. 

b. Benda yang tidak dikenal itu sering muncul diatas bukit itu. 

    The object which is unidentified often appears over the hill. 

                      Adjective Clause

    The unidentified object often appears over the hill.  

           *past p.
